Yacht Master Course (Shore based):

The course runs for 20 weeks, commencing in September 2005. We are now taking bookings for students wishing to attend this course. Places are limited in order to meet the student instructor ratio set by the RYA.

The RYA yacht master offshore shore based course assumes knowledge of navigation, collision regulations and meteorology to the level of Day Skipper.

On successful course completion students will have the opportunity to sit the examination to receive an RYA Yacht Master certificate (Shore based).

As with the Day Skipper Course, the course is divided into a number of modules.

Topics covered:

  • Classical navigation
  • Electronic navigation
  • Tidal heights and streams
  • Buoyage
  • Pilotage
  • Passage planning
  • Navigational instruments
  • Anchoring
  • Safety at sea
  • International regulations for prevention of collision at sea
  • Meteorology
