Sea Mile Building:

What is Mile Building?

Mile building is vital to provide keen, enthusiastic sailors with the opportunity to build their logbook record prior to a completing a Day Skipper or Yacthmaster Practical. The sessions offer a basic introduction to life at sea. The course suits the needs of people with limited sailing experience who intend to take part in a voyage and want to gain some experience before they embark.

There is a mileage requirement of 2500 nm to be entered for the RYA Yachtmaster practical and students who have few (if any) miles in their logbooks will need to do some mile-building prior to their ant RYA practical course.

Confidence is quickly built by time afloat. Individuals simply seeking to establish if a life afloat is for them or wishing to build cruising confidence with the reassurance of an experienced skipper and first mate aboard.

The actual itinerary will however be entirely weather dependent. All our sea mile building trips are designed with plenty of bolt holes in local ports harbours / marinas incase of poor weather.
